about. . .

Rosa Juritz is a genre-crossing bassoonist, composer, improviser, and educator based in London.

She has worked and collaborated with musicians and composers nationally and internationally, and is experienced in a broad spectrum of performance practises: baroque, classical, modernist, and contemporary; using electronics and synthesisers; text and graphic scores; and collaboratively composed performance art. She has earned performances at top venues in the UK, including the Barbican, Royal Festival Hall, Cadogan Hall, and the National Centre for Early Music.

Her musical interests include (but are not limited to) using sound as a means of illustration, ancient and medieval music, ‘Deep Listening’, text and graphic scores, multiphonics, and combining the bassoon with electronics.

Her education work involves instrumental tuition, youth orchestra and ensemble work, and composition workshops. She is particularly passionate about facilitating sound and music exploration for children and young people with SEN/D.

Rosa graduated from the University of York with a Ba(Hons) in Music in 2020 and a composition-based Master of Arts by Research in 2023. She was the winner of the 2021 University of York Nicola Lefanu Prize, awarded to the best original composition performed that year. She is a visual artist, speaks fluent Japanese, and has a keen interest in language and linguistics.
